Know what I am SO OVER?

Video games. Never liked 'em. Never will. Disturbed by the alarming level of their popularity in our society.
At one particularly not-self-respecting point in my life, I would sit around and watch my guy friends play them. How lame is that?
Anyway, I just think they are such a big waste of time. And, that virtual reality movement makes me nauseous.
I would actually disqualify a guy if he was really into playing video games all the time (or really, ever.) I know, good luck finding one who isn't, right?
I bet GEC never plays video games.

I'm with you there. I have so many mom-friends who complain about how their kids are addicted to video games (these are 3 and 4-year-olds too) and I just have to say, you bought the video games for them, it's your own fault! Why even start that addiction? And there are guys out there who don't play them--my DH doesn't, at least didn't until his sister gave him a playstation portable for Christmas. But he rarely touches that either.

My problem with video games is that I lose interest fast. I'm the same way with board games. I can play for 15-30 minutes tops but after that, I'll lose on purpose just so I can stop playing. And my other problem with video games is...well, I just plain don't like them. I can think of 5,000,000 other things that a person can be doing that is more productive, more active, more stimulating, more fun, and more productive than playing video games.

WhiteEyebrows Response:

I'm not much of a gamer.

I hate the epic games - you know, the ones that take 7 centuries to beat, and you have to have a guidebook to play. I hate role playing games.

I like shoot 'em up games because you can jump on them every once in a while to relieve some stress on some virtual idiots.

However, I LOOOOOVE the Wii. Can I just say that it's the wave of the future. It's amazing how the Wii is making people who have always hated games love them.

WhiteEyebrows' response on behalf of the Male Gender:

Oh yeah... well we hate shopping and clothes and jewelry and culture and human interaction, but we put up with it for you... cut us some slack.

thank you.

Agree with you here Maigs. There's a group of grown/married men in our ward who meet quite often to play until the wee hours of the morning. Talk about pathetic! Aaron doesn't play, hooray! :)

Haha. What makes me laugh is that right at this very moment Dalles is playing one. He doesn't do it often, though, thank goodness. He only does it after he earns a good break. ; ) We all have our vices, right?
The wii does kick some a, though. And with all of the movement, it does fall into the exercise category. Rock Band is also good times for all. But overall, I totally agree with you.

That's too bad because Wii is a lot of fun with a group!

I know, guys, I have heard that the WII is super-fun. I will just have to try it out.
The main video games I am opposed to are those super violent, realistic-looking ones. Or anything in which you can pretend to pick up a hooker.
In general, I don't like the addictive, inactive, brain-numbing qualities of video games. It's tru that at least the WII has you up and moving.
