I think if you are going to turn to a life of crime, it is imperative that you save a cop's life first. Then he owes you one and when you get caught (and isn't it serendipitous that the cop you save seems to always be the cop who catches you?) he will let you go.
*This is a theory developed after watching far too many movies, and has nothing to do with real life.

I must have saved a cops life then. Yesterday I got stopped for a tail light out. The cop then noticed my inspection was expired and I found that my insurance card was expired. Oh yeah and I was not wearing my seat belt. He let me go with a verbal warning. WOW.
